Sensing the Internet of Things

Did you know?

Since the 1980s

Bosch has been fitting automobiles with smart sensors. Reduced maintenance costs. Faster processes. Transparent monitoring of all connected automotives. These aren’t just ideals; they’re existing products and solutions that already sit within our multi-service, multi-division Bosch IoT suite.

The internet of cars

There’s no denying it, the internet of things represents a quantum leap in computing power. As such, a whole new world of benefits, applications and markets are opening up for the automotive industry and beyond.

Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions GmbH was founded in 2013 and is a fully owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH. The company was set up to design, develop and market innovative connected devices and tailor-made solutions for the Internet of Things. Our competency in electronics, sensor technology and software enable new business models for global markets. Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions is headquartered in Reutlingen, Germany. In 2015 Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions opened offices in Chicago, USA and Shanghai, China, in 2016 a sales office in Singapore was opened.

Six senses of sophistication

Through the use of MEMS sensors, we are better equipped to monitor the physical environment of vehicles and products to help transfer this information into the virtual world. As microscopically fine structures, they effectively measure acceleration, temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, light, sound, and gases. They are also equipped with Micro-controllers, miniature batteries and radio chips that deliver the data required for greater performance and efficiency.

Bosch Sensortec GmbH is a fully owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH that is dedicated to delivering a complete portfolio of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors and solutions that enable consumer electronics to be connected. Bosch Sensortec develops and markets a wide portfolio of MEMS sensors and solutions tailored for smartphones, tablets, wearable devices and IoT (Internet of Things) applications. The product portfolio includes 3-axis acceleration, gyroscope and geomagnetic sensors, integrated 6- and 9-axis sensors, environmental sensors, and a comprehensive software portfolio. Since its foundation in 2005, Bosch Sensortec has emerged as the MEMS technology leader in the markets it addresses. Bosch has been both a pioneer and a global market leader in the MEMS sensor segment since 1995 and has, to date, sold more than 7 billion MEMS sensors. Bosch sensors can be found in three out of four smartphones worldwide.

Mobility logistics, 4.0

Wirelessly connected production is the way of the future. It enables machines to monitor and optimize themselves and for production systems to follow instructions given by the products that they are manufacturing.

Small batches can be manufactured cost-effectively and with optimal capacity utilization. In terms of the mobility landscape, this means big benefits to drivers and enterprise managers. Custom-built, self-monitoring logistics processes help diagnose issues before they occur, while integrated sensors make it possible to track the location, flow, and condition of vehicles to keep them running longer and more efficiently.
